[2026] SGHC 92
Liao Nuoqian v PP
Section 420
Liao Nuoqian was sentenced to 48 months' imprisonment for syndicated debit card cheating offences. This was manifestly excessive and on appeal, his sentence was reduced to 36 months' imprisonment.

Tran Thi Tien v PP
Official Secrets Act
Tran Thi Tien was sentenced to one weeks' imprisonment for receiving information in breach of the Official Secrets Act. On appeal, her imprisonment sentence was set aside and substituted with a fine.

PP v Soo Cheow Wee
Section 506
Soo Cheow Wee was sentenced to 33 months' imprisonment for voluntarily causing hurt with a knife and criminal intimidation. On appeal, this was reduced to 27 months' imprisonment due to his mental conditions.

PP v Wee Teong Boo
Section 376
Dr Wee Teong Boo was falsely accused of raping his patient in his clinic. After more than four years of court proceedings, he was finally acquitted by the Court of Appeal on 10 June 2020.

PP v Low Ji Qing
Section 380
Low Ji Qing was sentenced to 10 months' imprisonment for theft. On appeal, the Prosecution argued that his psychiatric condition of Fetishism was irrelevant. The Chief Justice dismissed the appeal.

PP v Tran Thi Tien
Medical Registration Act
Tran Thi Tien was accused of illegally performing beauty treatments from her HDB flat. She was acquitted. The Prosecution sought a jail term of 3 weeks for other charges, but the Court imposed only a fine.
[2022] SGCA 73
PP v Miya Manik
Section 300(c)
Miya Manik was acquitted of murder. He was convicted of a lesser charge and sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane. The Prosecution's appeal was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
2021
PP v Yeo Sow Nam
Section 354
Dr Yeo Sow Nam was falsely accused of molesting a woman in his clinic in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. The prosecution withdrew all charges midway through the trial after the woman was cross-examined.

PP v Zuraimy Bin Musa
Misuse of Drugs Act
Zuraimy Bin Musa was acquitted of drug trafficking and escaped the gallows. He was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment instead. The Prosecution's appeal was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.
[2018] SGMC 20
PP v Chan Siew Yin
Section 352
Jeffrey Chan was tried for assaulting a man outside his home. He was acquitted on the principle of de minimis as encapsulated in Section 95 of the Penal Code. The Prosecution withdrew their appeal.
